Cirque du Soleil

I hate the circus; I have always had. I can not stand clowns, animal acts and acrobats. For me, the circus was a mix of entertainment for vulgar and illiterate people (adults) and the discovery of a new and different world for children. I though this way for many years until one day, the day I discovered “Cirque du Soleil”, a breath taking Canadian-French extravaganza.
The first time I saw their acting was on television and to tell the truth, I though it was some kind of theatre play. When the show was over I was so impress that the only thing I could think about was to go, some day, to a life presentation. Of course, I was living in my country at the time, so the sole idea of being in a show like that was almost an impossible dream. After some years I came to this country and the hope to see the “Cirque” came alive, so I decided then to investigate. And lucky me, the show was coming to New York; naturally I bought tickets and my dream came true.
The show name was “Alegria” (happiness in English) and it was about the evolution of human state of mind from old ages to modern ones. The music was amazing and the grotesque costumes along with the game of lights gave the show a taste of mystery. “Alegria” is not the only spectacle; the list is long: “Saltimbanco”, “Quidam”, “Mystere”, “O”, etc. I do not know which of these will be their next presentation in New York but one thing is for sure, I will be there.
