CHESS

The day I became member of this web page I wrote a small blog about my favorite pastime; well now I call it like this but years ago, it was my passion. I am talking about Chess, the finest and hardest sport. Yes, (just so you know) Chess is an official sport and it has its own Olympics. Learning how to play is not an easy process and defeats you will find in the road, thousand, but they are worth it. Some day I will tell my story, but today I am just going to be your teacher.
The first you need is a square board divided into sixty-four small alternated black and white (could be green and white) squares. Secondly you have to add the pieces: sixteen for each player. Have I told you the game is played for only two persons? No!? Ok, it is my fault then. The pieces are black and white or light and dark colored; they are two rooks (the castles), two knights (the horses), two bishops, eight pawns (the soldiers), one queen and finally, the most important of all, one king. You are right, the game is like a battle and whoever reach the enemy’s king and kill it (check mate) is the winner. Before I forget, I have to warn you to place the board with a white square on the right of each player. I know I should instruct you the position of each piece but that will take to much time, so just take a look at the picture I have added to the blog.
Well, now is time for you to learn the basics of the game. I am going to start with the rook; its movements are horizontal and vertical. The knight moves in L shape. The bishop moves diagonally. The pawn moves only vertically one step at the time, but you can move it two steps at the beginning of the game, after that it is only one step. The queen moves horizontally, vertically and diagonally. And the king moves the same way the queen does but only one step at the time. Having these rules in mind you can start your practice. I recommend you to find a partner and train as much as you can.
There is a lot more I could tell you about Chess, but now is not the moment. Just read carefully what I have written and if you find it significant, investigate about this splendid game. Maybe you, as I did a life ago, will fall in love with it and become another chess-addicted.
